Bio
My life started in Vermont. Thanks to my nomadic mother my world at an early age has been a wonderful mixture of East, West, North, and South. My mother was and still is a photographer. I credit her for my inclination to picking up my own camera when I ended up in San Francisco for University. I found myself taking long bus rides and the amount of characters and stories that I passed by on any given ride astounded me. I was a typical student in their first year, not really knowing where I was going much less what I was doing. At the Academy of Art I learned that my vision could be developed into a style, and my personality could infiltrate my photographs. The idea of making an image suddenly became much more complex and interesting to pursue. San Francisco was a time for me to drift and appreciate the people and stories that nourished my eyes and mind. I captured faces and places, not quite knowing where my work was going. I’ve often been attracted to this essential energy that shines through where the spiritual far outweighs the material. I am interested in the poetic character of things; in the small, seemingly unimportant things. There is hidden beauty in the ordinary, and great beauty in the overlooked. Little things are big, less is more. Imperfection is beautiful. Paradoxes such as these fascinate me. Im sure ill never quite know the direction my “work” is going but Ill leave that up to the viewer.
